Father’s Love Refresher

If you participated in the 10 Day liquid fast, we would love to hear from you. Tell us the victories you saw during the fast. Tell us how God changed you. And don’t forget to keep praying for the victories you have yet to see.

All you have to do is drop us an email or fill out a testimony sheet found at Guest Services. Your story, whatever it may be, could be just the thing to inspire and move someone else.

MOPS

This resource is designed to allow your family to have some focused time in God’s Word during the Christmas season.

Use this simple family devotion before church on Sunday, December 23 to talk about the gift of our Heavenly Father’s love for us.

OPEN UP

Gather your family and watch the Christmas comedy, Elf, together.

*If your family is the adventurous type, gather in the kitchen and try this devotion while whipping up a Buddy-friendly, Christmas dessert. Be sure to include something from the four Elf Food Groups: 1) candy 2) candy canes 3) candy corns 4) syrup!

After the movie, get your family talking by asking:

  • What would you like and dislike about being in Buddy the Elf’s real family?
  • In one word, how would you describe Buddy’s real dad? Why?
  • Why was it so important to Buddy to gain his father’s love?

OPEN BOOK

Have family members read together 1 John 3:1 and James 1:17. Ask:

  • If God really is your Heavenly Father, what difference does that make? Give examples from your life.
  • How does Buddy’s dad compare to our Father God?
  • In one word, how would you describe God, our Heavenly Father?
  • What are some of the “good gifts” that God gives to us, his children? Let’s see how many we can list in 60 seconds. Ready? Go!

OPEN LIFE

Read aloud Romans 8:38-39.

  • Nothing can ever separate you from your Heavenly Father’s love—not even a trip to the North Pole! What would you like to say to God about that?

To close, say a prayer of thanks to your Heavenly Father, sharing family members’ responses to the last question in your prayer.
