Core Class 101

So you’ve been attending Good Shepherd and now you’re ready to dive into membership. Attend Core Class 101. This class will tell you all about GSC’s unique strategy. Learn about our Vision and Core Values, explore the structure of the church and discover the true meaning of membership..

Next Class: Sunday, March 11 from 2-4 p.m.

2nd Monday is one day, specifically set apart each month, to slow down from our daily routine to seek God more intentionally. This posture of prayer, fasting, and worship has found its way into our monthly rhythm since Winter 2010 and is a day not to be missed. Together, we strive to set aside our busy-ness and passionately seek Him for our lives, our church, our friends, families and our communities.

Before you start the day, during your breaks, in-between classes or appointments, while the kids are at school, and to end the day…

Pray. Fast. Seek God.

INTERNATIONAL

• A Spirit of Revelation (Matthew 24, Mark 13) about Jesus to spread throughout the world
• The Church – for our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world and for those persecuted for the name of Jesus.

NATIONAL

• Pray for our country: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I Timothy 2:1-2
• President Obama, Vice President Biden, Congressional leaders, etc. (Romans 13:1-7)
• State leaders, local leaders
• Cabinet Members, Supreme Court Justices
• For the next Presidential and Congressional election in November, 2012 – for Godly leadership for our nation
• Revival and returning to Jesus in the church and in our nation
• Pray for our troops at home and across the world.

LOCAL

• Good Shepherd Church – for the Lord’s continued blessings and leading in all areas of our church. Pray this for all Loveland churches. Pray for the fulfillment of the 1 Chronicles 28 promise (“people with skills of every kind will volunteer and the leaders and the entire nation are at your command”).
• For Loveland – For any spirit of apathy, lethargy and complacency to be broken and for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done in our city.
• Pray for the peace, protection and prosperity of our community.

PERSONAL/FAMILY

• For your family members (spouse, children, grandchildren, parents) and for the well being of all of our families.
• Provision from the Lord (health, finances, protection, etc.) in each of our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
• For Prodigals in our families to return home to the Father.

Ladies, Friday night, February 17 is your turn to get out of the house. All the girls at GSC are meeting up for what can only be described as a Swap Soiree.

Grab all your friends and bring 1-5 gently used accessories (scarves, wraps, belts, hats, perfume, bags, jewelry) to trade with friends. Please do not bring clothes or shoes. The Swap Soiree with be complete with snacks, lots of laughs and tons of fun.

February 26: We will have one service, all together, at 9 a.m. After service, come have a FREE lunch and spend time with the missionaries. You must register for this lunch, so get your lunch ticket in the Family Room on Sundays or by emailing mainoffice@gschurch.tv.

Well, here we are at Day #10. Way to go Church! I am so proud of you!! I am also very humbled by the overwhelming number who have participated. You can’t imagine what a faith booster your joining me in this fast has been.

Today’s post will be short, but sweet:

1. Read II Chronicles 20:1-30 one more time, and let God continue to speak His promises and assurances for His victory to your hearts.
2. Spend a little bit of time reflecting on this verse of Scripture: ”I am confident of this very thing, that He who began this good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NASB)

Let’s believe God for the victories that have come, or are still going to be coming as a result of this fast. Let’s also thank Him for the wonderful changes that have occurred in our lives as well. May we never be the same as a result of this time of fasting & prayer!!

See You Tonight. The party begins at 6:12 p.m.!!!

Throughout our Ten day Liquid Fast we’ve been reading II Chronicles 20 together. It’s an amazing story about King Jehoshaphat, the nation of Judah, prayer, fasting, and… God’s awesome victory on their behalf! Without taking a lot of time reviewing past posts, suffice it to say that God is in the “victory business.” His heart’s desire is to enter into impossible situations, and turn them into “Him-possible” victories!!

Sometimes it’s easy to read the great stories in the Bible, and think that God was able to do those kinds of miracles back then, or to believe that He’s willing to do the impossible for others, but when it comes to your case – maybe not. Toss that kind of thinking where it belongs – in the throw away pile!! God’s victories are not reserved for days gone by. He hasn’t used up all the mighty miracles on somebody else. NO!!  Same God then = same God today. The same “Him-possible”victories work just as well today, and are just as available to you and me.

As we wrap up this the last full day of our fast, take some time to ponder these words from God’s Word, ”Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20,21 NASB)

I pray that this encourages you today with faith for the victories that have come, or are still on their way. Whether our victories arrive by the end of our fast tomorrow, or they don’t come for a while, let’s keep believing God for what He has said He will do in our impossibilities.

Blessed are the Hungry – for They Shall See Victory!!

What’s that I see? Is it the finish line?? I think it is… sort of.

As our Ten Day Liquid Fast is coming to an end here pretty soon I wanted to keep encouraging you to stay focused on the Lord, and His voice as we’re almost done. My hope is that each of you finishes spiritually strong, and that you stay that way in the days ahead! As we have been doing this fast, my mind has been drawn on several occasions to a very fitting verse from Proverbs 21:31: “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to The Lord.”

I’m reminded once again by that verse that we are in a great partnership with the Lord Himself in this fast. In obedience we have prepared, and are preparing ourselves for the battle(s) we face. That’s our part – obedience to His calling, His instructions. I know the Lord has blessed, and will continue to bless each of you in the days ahead as you continue fighting, and doing your part.

However, I want to draw your attention to the last words of the verse I quoted above: “the victory belongs to The Lord.” Beloved, we have the small part in the victory (i.e. fasting & praying). God has the big part (i.e. pulling off the victory), and NOTHING IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR HIM!!! God is the One who has called this “a fast for victories.” I want to remind you that that’s because He is, and will be the Victor in all things!!
